In a message, the organization stated that "the main affected by this measure are the cooks of the community kitchens, as it was their only income from the work they did there." "While national officials bought houses, traveled abroad on private flights and took loans from the Nation Bank for second or third homes, the cooks are left without their meager income, putting the operation of the kitchens at risk," indicated the group. Norma Morales, a leader of Barrios de Pie and Deputy General Secretary of the UTEP, expressed: "It's incredible that this Adorni farce says he's working his ass off while he travels abroad and buys houses he can't justify. The real workers are the cooks in our neighborhoods who work miracles so that millions of people can have a plate of food."
